The uprights are enriched by carvings with pointed arches in the Gothic style, as is the carved cornice with three-light openwork and two pine-cone carved pinnacles in the same style. The lower drawer contains a leather-covered drawer pull that serves as a writing desk; a release mechanism allows the two drawers to open the doors. The lower ones conceal shelves, while the doors of the riser conceal twenty-two maple drawer pulls with coin compartments, some still bearing the piece of velvet on which to rest them; the drawers have mahogany fronts with two knobs each in the form of a silver lion protome. The construction is fir and pine, the fittings finished in brass.
