Bronze with a nuanced brown patina of a reclining lioness, signed "L. Riché" (1877–1949). Cast by Susse, it bears the foundry's stamp and the inscriptions "Susse Frs Edts Paris" and "Cire perdue" in relief on the base.

Louis Riché, French sculptor, was a student of the sculptor and animalier Georges Gardet (1863–1939). Dogs and felines were among Riché’s favorite subjects. He regularly participated in the Salons, including the Salon des Artistes Français.
