High quality, crackled, rakuyaki, raku with rust and black slip in Badarai style, literally horse drinking trough. Glazed summer tea bowl intended for the green tea ceremony "sencha" Heisei period, circa 1990. (1889 - 2019) With a rough base with a small foot supporting for the bowl, a surprisingly soft crackled rust and black glaze. By irregular shapes, density of colors and the softness of the forms, they evoke in Japan, "the cult of imperfection", symbol of poverty of the tea ceremony. In "Badarai" shape, this type of bowl embodies the spirit of communion of the ceremony, because it passed from hand to hand. Rikyü, master of the tea ceremony under the regency of Hideyoshi, and the various emperors, praised the beauty of these forms: Shunkan, Yuteki-Temmoku, Muichibutsu, Tsutsuizutsu, Haku-Temmoku and Ichimonji. It was the master potter Chojiro who developed the glazing technique, Raku, and he hand-shaped these six types of bowls (listed above) still used and manufactured today. The utilitarian designs with cracked and fissured enamel were intended for rustic tea pavilions. The lustrous characters corresponded to the character of palace ceremonies. Dimensions: height: 5.4 cm. high and 14 cm in Ø. weight: 308 grams. The base and the foot ring are unglazed, the underside bears the mark of the artist's seal in print. Imported from China, tea in Japan and its ceremony in the 16th century, gave rise to real cults and rites. It is still today a specific institution in Japan. Item in excellent condition.
