"Clock Portico Empire Mercury-gilded Bronze With Gold"
A sublime Empire period portico clock circa 1805 in remarkable
condition and authenticity. Mercury-gilt bronze, covered throughout
with brilliant gilding and matte gilding. A simple two-column design,
adorned at the top with an eagle with outstretched wings and a palmette
at its base, and a beautiful sunburst pendulum occupying the space
between the columns. A large, domed white enamel dial with finely
crafted hands.
Original, unmodified mechanism, wire suspension, striking on the hours
and half-hour on an antique bell.
