A Catalan sculptor (sometimes called Pablo Rodó in France), Pau Rodó studied sculpture in Barcelona and in Rome. He specialised in important commissions for churches and in portraiture. In the 1880s, he moved to Paris and divided his time between Paris and the Pyrenean town of Cauterets. In Cauterets, he founded a school of sculpture, which profoundly influenced the cultural life of this spa town, today better known for its winter sports. Rodó is an important sculptor for France, Catalonia and Spain. The museums of Catalonia and Madrid holds his works.
