Oil on canvas measuring 46cm x 33cm plus modern frame 41cm x 54cm This painting represents a young Breton woman holding a bag going to a house at the end of the path It is signed lower left Jules ADLER This artist was born in 1865 and died in 1952 At the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, he was a student of Bouguereau, Dagnan-Bouveret and Robert Fleury. He received several medals and benefited from a travel grant from the State. A regular participant in the Salon des Artistes Français, he became a member and member of the Jury Committee. He was a founding member of the Salon d'Automne and exhibited at the Salon des Tuileries in 1926. He participated in several universal exhibitions, notably in 1900 in Paris, where he obtained a silver medal, in Pittsburgh, Brussels, Liège, where he showed decorative frescoes, in Venice, Barcelona, Madrid, Munich and Tokyo. Although he painted many landscapes, especially of the Ile de France and Brittany, notably at Faouët, he showed a constant interest in genre scenes.
