Engraved half-ell – 18th/19th century

Beautiful half-ell in ash wood, finely engraved with the first and last name “Joséphine Bonnefoy”, with a symbol of femininity placed between the two.

Dimensions:

- Length: 58.9 cm
- Width: 6 cm
- Thickness: 4 mm

Condition: Good general condition, with a beautiful patina of time.

The ell is an old measure. According to the dictionary, in Paris, it was worth 1.18844 m. These pieces of wood were used to measure lace to calculate the price to be paid to lacemakers when they delivered their work.

Authentic object linked to the world of lace from Puy-en-Velay in Auvergne.
