Pair of oval Meissen porcelain planters with Kakiémon decoration, rich chased and gilded bronze mount with dolphin and shell decoration. France or England, 19th century. Kakiémon is a style of porcelain decoration in Japan in the 17th and 18th centuries and was imported to Europe. The Chantilly and Meissen magnufacture companies notably produced numerous porcelains with this decoration in the 18th and 19th centuries.
