Small chest of drawers in rosewood veneer opening with 4 drawers on 3 rows. Beautiful gilt bronze ornamentation including bird-decorated pull handles. Red Flanders marble top with corbin beak. Note: the marble was formerly cut at the back (see photo). JME jurande hallmark and Fleury stamp. François FLEURY was a Parisian cabinetmaker from the mid-18th century. Brother of Adrien, he worked on rue Traversières until the beginning of the reign of Louis XVI. Very little is known about the life and work of this cabinetmaker. It is thought that he took over his brother Adrien's workshop on rue Traversiére, and that he worked there until the beginning of the reign of Louis XVI. His stamp has been found on some good quality Louis XV furniture, with simple lines and richly decorated with bronze.
