Born in Lausanne from French parents, Louis Trinquier pursued his career in France and was decorated knight, then officer of the Legion of Honor, in 1909 and 1921 respectively. Painter, illustrator and engraver, he produced numerous landscapes in watercolor. This view of this entrance to the Marly-le-Roi park located on the side of the old town offers a rare testimony to the appearance it had at the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century.
