George Willem Opdenhoff was a Dutch marine painter of German origin. Opdenhoff was a pupil of Andreas Schelfhout (landscapes) and Johannes Christiaan Schotel (seascapes). He lived in Breda from 1835 to 1837, undertook a trip to the French coast in 1837, lived in Rotterdam from 1837 to 1842 and moved to The Hague around 1842. He painted almost exclusively sea, beach and river views. Opdenhoff participated in exhibitions in The Hague from 1835 to 1867 and in Rotterdam in 1873.
