"Navette - Goldwork - Liturgical Navette Representing The Annunciation - Late Period"
Mid-17th century Italy, Tuscany region Embossed brass incense boat, made in a Tuscan workshop in the mid-17th century. The object is complete and homogeneous, with its original turned base, characteristic of late Renaissance liturgical productions, sober but solid and balanced. The main decoration presents an Annunciation in relief: the angel Gabriel addresses the Virgin Mary, seated in a meditative posture, under the apparition of the Holy Spirit represented by the radiant dove. The whole is framed by palmettes and stylized floral motifs, in an ornamental vocabulary specific to Baroque Italy. In the upper part, the monogram IHS, surmounted by a cross, affirms the sacred destination of the object. The hand-embossed brass retains a clearly legible relief despite visible wear and some irregularities due to time. The object remains expressive and touching, as much by its material as by its subject, fully embodying the spirit of popular goldsmithing of the Haute Époque, between intimate fervor and artisanal simplicity. A beautiful old liturgical object, marked by use but imbued with a strong spiritual presence. Condition: visible wear, slight deformations, heterogeneous patina. Clearly legible decoration. Old crack at the joint, without fragility. Dimensions: • Height: 15 cm Delivery: fast and secure shipping via DHL Express, guaranteeing optimal protection for this old and evocative object of piety.
