Small polychrome earthenware statuette signed Henriot HB Quimper, representing Saint Anne of the Bretons holding a marine anchor and the Virgin Mary as a child in front of her (the latter wearing a yellow dress decorated with Breton ermines), signed Porson*, from the 20th century. This statuette is in good condition. Signed, see photos. Please note: slight soiling and minimal wear and tear, see photos. * Henriette Porson (1874-1963) was a French sculptor. Henriette Porson studied Fine Arts in Nantes and then in Paris at the Académie Julian. There she took painting classes at the Jean-Paul Laurens studio and sculpture classes at the Henri Royer studio. From 1906 to 1914 she participated in the Salon des artistes français, where she won multiple medals and later became a member. Her participations were rewarded with distinctions. In 1912, she founded a drawing, painting, and decorative arts course in Nantes. Around 1930, she began her collaboration with the HB Factory. She participated in the 1931 Colonial Exhibition, presenting a work entitled Petit arabe assis (Little Seated Arab). Her contribution was rewarded with a silver medal. In 1947, she participated in the Sacred Art Exhibition in Nantes, again with the HB Factory. Her Nantes studio, located at the corner of Rue Boileau and Rue du Chapeau-Rouge, was destroyed during the bombings of September 1943. The Château des Ducs de Bretagne - Musée d'Histoire de Nantes, has a collection consisting mainly of plaster casts, some of them painted, earthenware, and charcoal drawings, donated by the artist's aunt.
