Beautiful watercolor, with fresh colors, by the Nice painter Emmanuel Costa which represents a bustling street under the Ponte Ciapella in San Remo in Italy.
The watercolor lines are precise and the colors bright.
A student of Ferry and Delaroche in Paris, Emmanuel Costa first settled in Turin where he had a teaching position at the Albertine Academy. Subsequently, he moved to Nice where he painted two panels for the Franciscan chapel on Boulevard Carabacel, the ceiling of the opera house and that of the international casino. He exhibited at the Municipal Museum of Fine Arts in Nice in 1903. In 1936, the exhibition "Le Paillon" at the Masséna Museum showed several of his works.
A talented watercolorist, he ran a renowned painting workshop that attracted students, clients, and private sponsors.
