"Steinlen — Angora Cat Sitting — Bronze"
Between the 1880s and 1890s, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, famous for his press illustrations and committed posters, was particularly interested in the figure of the cat. He represented it through painting, drawing, engraving and even sculpture, often using as models the cats he took in at his home in Montmartre.
Steinlen, a keen observer, accurately captured the independent nature of this animal, and created genuine portraits imbued with sensitivity.
