Beautiful work by the Toulon painter, Victor Cuguen, which represents a view of the flower market, most likely on the Cour Lafayette, in Toulon.
The artist used a palette of bright colors and played on the serif of his knife painting to give relief to his composition.
Victor Louis Cuguen was born in Pontorson in the Manche department. He participated in the Salon des Indépendants from 1922 to 1940, exhibiting landscapes there. He settled in Toulon and became a member of the Friends of the Arts of the Var and took part in numerous exhibitions. He painted lively landscapes of Toulon and its surroundings using a palette of bright colors.
Dimensions: 27 x 35 cm without frame and 31 x 39 cm with its original wooden frame.
