"Baroque Bed"
Baroque bed, Italian manufacture, circa 1740.Gilded wood, brocade.Measurements: headboard: cm. 184 x 183; footboard: cm. 58 x 160; mattress: cm. 200 x 144.The elegant Italian-made bed was created following the aesthetic taste canons of the Baroque; this is confirmed by the curvilinear trend of the ornamentation of the back, as well as the refined and soft twisting of the acanthus leaves. At the center of the headboard is a mask decorated with a parade helmet; on both the right and left, two cherubs hold a fruit in one hand while the other is stretched upwards.
