"Portico Clock Circa 1840. Height 60 Cm"
Portico clocks were fashionable under Louis Philippe, made of all materials, wood, gilt bronze veneer, even crystal and bronze. But it is rare to find a copy of this size. This one is sixty centimeters high, and all the proportions are in keeping. This large size allows it to display magnificent Corinthian capitals in gilt bronze, a wide dial border, and a rich pendulum decorated with an antique mascaron. The body of the clock is veneered with rosewood and marquetry with holly. Tiny and limited imperfections of veneer are drowned in its impressive volume. The dial and movement are in good condition. It need to be cleened and prepared for working .It is signed on the back Leclere. It has its key.
