This emblem of power is obviously intended for ceremonial use. The choice of the lion as the main decorative element is characteristic, since Sidi Ali, (Ali bin Abi Talib) the son-in-law of the Prophet, hero of the Shiites who consider him as the first Imam, was nicknamed "the lion of Allah" (Assadoullah).
Moreover Hamza, uncle of the Prophet was also called "the lion of the Prophet" (Assad-our-Rassoul)
So this lion, symbol of courage and the strength of Religion, is a representation of authority.
DESCRIPTION : The object is made of embossed copper or brass sheet, with small gilded parts. It is hollow. It is made up of 3 parts, which are held together by a screw at the central axis (I have not tried to disassemble)
The lion is represented with its mouth open, and its head is surmounted by a flower, which symbolizes the purity of the revelation of Religion.
The object continues downwards, taking a cylindro-conical shape, with first a decoration of leaves, then a twisted decoration alternating bands of copper and silver-plated copper. Finally, the scepter ends with a fluted ball.
I had the opportunity to see in the past a scepter of the same style of manufacture, finished in a ram's head, and another in a horse's head, both of dimensions less than 50 cm, but in 40 years of trade, this is the first time that I have in my hands a scepter of such size of such quality.
