"Cup And Saucer In Paris Porcelain - Empire Period"
On the cup, in a canted reserve framed by a wide gilt border, a scene in sepia monochrome depicts a winged cupid sitting on a rock, wings spread, contemplative. At his feet rest a bow and a quiver filled with arrows, traditional symbols of love and desire. The rest of the decoration is made up of rectangular gilt panels, finely engraved in matte and shiny gold, illustrating an elegant neoclassical decorative repertoire: urns, garlands of plants, foliage, trophies and musical instruments. The saucer repeats the same decoration on its rim, alternating pale pink medallions decorated with symbolic figures (owl or owl and military helmet) and gilt panels engraved with Empire motifs. The central medallion is decorated with a stylized floral motif in gilt. The interior of the cup is entirely gilded. Wide gold borders.
