Beautiful pair of wooden wall carvings from the 17th century, made of finely carved stone pine wood. They belong to the Alpine or Central European baroque tradition.
Detailed description:
Age: 17th century (c. 1600), Baroque
Material: Swiss stone pine
Measurements: H 65 x W 29 / H 65 x W 31 cm.
Technique: Deep and dynamic carving, with special attention to the movement of clothing and hair, typical of the Baroque style.
The figures look like angels or saints in a devotional attitude.
Both sculptures emerge from carved clouds, and in one there is also a small putto with wings, a recurring iconographic detail.
The faces are expressive, with flowing hair and eventful clothing.
Possibility of hanging: Yes, given the flat surfaces on the back and the compact structure, they can be mounted on the wall as decorative elements or part of an exhibition context.
