Beige earthenware with green slip on the back, good general condition of conservation (see photos). Egypt, Late Period, 664–332 BC. Dimensions: 2.3x1.8 cm. Provenance: Former Marie-Ange Ciolkowski collection, Paris, formed in the 1960s–1970s. Sold with a certificate of authenticity from the expert Serge Reynes, guaranteeing origin and period. Bastet, an Egyptian goddess with a cat's head, was associated with protection, fertility, and music, but also with the warmth of the sun and the home. During the Late Period, her cult experienced a boom, and amulets bearing her image were commonly worn as protective talismans. Their small size made them easy to keep on your person or to add to votive necklaces. * Careful packaging * Shipping costs on request.
