Vintage English sterling silver Kiddush cup, grapevine engraved, Birmingham 1969
This fine vintage sterling silver Kiddush cup features an intricately engraved grapevine motif, symbolising abundance and blessing. Around the upper bowl, bunches of ripened grapes are framed by flowing, scrolling tendrils and finely detailed vine leaves, creating a continuous band of naturalistic decoration. The precision of the hand engraving highlights the veins of each leaf and the rounded texture of the grape clusters, giving the design a lively, organic quality. The cup has a gently flared rim and a slender, waisted stem leading to a broad domed foot, creating an elegant and harmonious silhouette. Its versatile form also makes it suitable as a decorative wine goblet.
Fully hallmarked near the rim for W S Ltd, Birmingham, 1969.
