Superb floral still life by Antoine Jules Pelletier, a 19th-century painter born in Amsterdam and a student of Rudder and Couture. This oil on canvas, signed lower right, presents an elegant composition of varied flowers placed on an entablature. The vivid colors and refined details demonstrate the artist's expertise, specializing in portraits and still lifes. Exhibited between 1848 and 1880, Pelletier delivers here a delicate work, restored in the upper part, which will appeal to lovers of classical and decorative painting.
