"Large Fan 1890 Painted In Gouache Signed By The Painter Van Garden Renaissance Decor"
Very large and beautiful fan signed by the painter Van Garden. Period circa 1890. Gallant Neo-Renaissance decor with a couple in an Italian city. The frame is made of 16-strand rosewood with its superb carved and painted rocaille plume. The leaf is made of fabric painted with gouache (silk or gauze). The ring bail is made of brass with mother-of-pearl finishing buttons. Height: 35.5 cm. Wingspan of the open fan: 67.5 cm. Good general condition (a few small holes of about one millimeter and a small cut in the fabric, not serious). Comes directly from an estate and has never been presented at public sale or on the market.
