This large giltwood mirror, crafted in sculpted wood and stucco with gold leaf, dates from the Napoléon III period and embodies the refined elegance of the Louis XVI style. Its harmonious proportions and richly detailed decoration are typical of 19th-century French neoclassicism.
The frame features delicate ornamentation including pearl beading, scrolling foliage, and acanthus leaves. Each corner is adorned with rosettes, while the top cornice is crowned with an exquisite crest composed of a tied ribbon surrounded by floral and foliate motifs, flanked by two pinecone finials.
The original bevelled glass (visible in other photos) enhances the mirror’s visual depth and reflects light with understated sophistication.
In very good overall condition, with minor wear to the gilding consistent with its age, this mirror stands as a statement piece, perfect for elevating a classical interior or adding distinction above a mantel or in an entryway.
