Educational model of a dried garden bean, enlarged 15 times, manufactured by the Osterloh family firm, no. 99b. This firm was founded in Leipzig around 1880 by the painter Paul OSTERLOH (1850-1929), his son Alfred Osterloh (1892-1976), botanist and zoologist, developed the business and around 300 models were created by the family firm. The first models were made of papier-mâché, then of plaster.
Printed label glued to the base with the title and number and indications in 4 languages: English, French, Spanish and German: "Bohnenkeimung. in gequollenem Zustande | Germinating of the bean. Enlargement 15 fold | Germination d'haricot faséole. Agrandissement 15 fois / Haba. Aumentada 15 veces. | Nr. 99b | VerröBerung 15 fach."
