Behind the rocks, we can see two sailboats on a calm sea.
The scene is treated using the pointillist technique dear to Georges Joseph Zelter, in shades of blue mixed with yellow and gray. The work is in excellent condition, signed lower right. It is offered in a contemporary frame (1960s - 70s), also in very good condition. On the back, there is the stamp of the Parisian gallery where the painting was purchased, as well as the name of the place represented.
Georges Joseph Zelter, the author of this painting, was a French painter known for his seascapes, landscapes and still lifes. He was a student of André Lhote and Henri Goetz. He adopted the pointillist technique in almost all of his oils. This technique lent itself well to his constant concern for the translation of light onto forms.
GJ Zelter exhibited regularly in France and abroad. His works have been the subject of numerous public sales.
