The gaunt, ascetic-looking man looks at the viewer with large black eyes and points with his skeletal forefinger to the unclothed woman visible above him in the window. She has closed her eyes and is full of a smile. The caressing touch on her cheek gives her something tender. A veil blows from her head out into the world, seemingly covering the moon. At the same time, however, it also releases the moon so that it is unveiled and the woman reveals the secrets of the moon with which she is filled. The man's artist's hat and wise gesture reveal the woman as the muse who inspires the artist.



About the artist

Günther Filus was born in Berlin and studied painting and graphic art with Franz Nagel at the Munich Art Academy from 1954 to 1958. In 1959 he founded a graphic workshop in Regensburg, where he first made lithographs and from 1965 on etchings. Between 1959 and 1976, Günther Filu's works were shown almost every year at the major art exhibitions in Munich, in addition to his participation in numerous other exhibitions.
