Silver Sword, Louis XV Period, Circa 1760

Magnificent and rare silver mount hallmarked in various places, decorated with fine twisted lines. Round pommel en suite. Hallmarked grip, cast in silver with the same decoration with two ferrules, decorated with foliage. Hallmarked crosspiece with double inverted quillon. Finely decorated guard, scallop shell keyboard bound with “donkey steps” Splendid triangular blade of 77 cm, decorated on its first third with geometric and scroll motifs. This sword in very good condition, with perfectly en suite decorations, is of great beauty, combining simplicity, harmony and the search for a perfect balance of silverware of the period, hallmarks to be determined because it displays the hallmarks of an eagle's head on the left, the open beak, surrounded by a border. These are hallmarks of census of medium works in gold and silver, departments, 1809. It means that a work with older hallmarks was found in conformity when new hallmarks were introduced.
