Ligurian Hunting Dagger, 2nd Half Of The 18th Century

Object description :

"Ligurian Hunting Dagger, 2nd Half Of The 18th Century"
This Italian hunting dagger has a long history. Its shape is typical of the Genoa region, and it can be dated to the second half of the 18th century. There is a copper coin on the pommel, which is a later repair, since it bears the profile of Victor Emmanuel III, who reigned from 1900. This dagger was therefore used for more than a century, and has certainly undergone many sharpenings and several owners.
BLADE : This is the typical blade of Ligurian daggers. It begins with a baluster-shaped part, then a ricasso,  and continues by two symmetrical cutting edges up to the tip.
On the ricasso, there is an engraved vegetal decoration, quite worn, which continues on the first third of the blade.
Blade length = 19 cm, width at the ricasso = 3 cm, thickness at the ricasso = 3.4 cm
HILT: It is made of brown horn, cylindrical-conical in shape, with ridges.
On the side close to the blade, there is a brass ferrule, and on the opposite side a pommel also made of brass, topped with a copper coin on which the tang of the blade is riveted. The horn of the handle is not split, but there are small accidents which testify to a long use.
It is in summary a nice object, with signs of use, at a reasonable price.
