Elegant big silver-gilt ciborium in the neoclassical style, made by the Lyon-based firm Villard & Fabre, active between 1901 and 1973.
Description
This ciborium presents a beautiful balance of shapes and decorations, with a circular base decorated with a frieze of finely chiseled foliage, enriched with three medallions depicting representations of the Holy Family, harmoniously repeated on the cup and the lid.The lid, surmounted by a finely crafted cross, is decorated with two gold crosses, a rare and precious detail highlighting the quality of the piece.Master mark “VF” in a horizontal diamond, separated by a cross, identified as that of Villard & Fabre, inscribed between November and December 1901, removed in 1973.
The stamp of the firm Evellin Frères (Nantes-Rennes) is also visible.
