Luca Madrassi (1848-1919)
Luca Madrassi was a French sculptor of Italian origin (1848-1919) .
He began his artistic studies in Rome before studying at the School of Beaux-Arts in Paris , where he was a student of Pierre-Jules Cavelier .
He then joined the studio of Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse .
Between 1876 and 1880 , Madrassi was Gustave Dore's assistant ; this collaboration may explain the similarities between the works of Carrier-Belleuse and Doré .
Luca Madrassi exhibited at the Salon of the Society of French Artists in Paris from 1879 .
He received honorable mentions for his often allegorical subjects on several occasions (1881, 1882, 1883 and 1885) as well as a third-class medal in 1896 .
He obtained French nationality and became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1890 .
He also exhibited at the Salon of the National Society of Fine Arts in 1896 .
