Object description :

"Art Deco Folding Screen"
Elegant folding screen with six doors in lacquered and painted wood, attributable to the Art Deco period, dating back to the first decades of the 20th century. The work is characterized by a refined monochrome composition which represents three naked or half-dressed female figures, immersed in a dreamlike and ceremonial context.

The figures, outlined with thin and essential lines, evoke the elegance of the illustrations of the twenties and thirties and the sensuality of classic themes reinterpreted in a modern key. The background, made up of fishbone lines reminiscent of a Japanese screen, creates a rhythmic and geometric contrast with the fluid curves of the bodies and drapery.

Details such as the vase with flowers, the chalice raised in a ritual gesture and the elaborate feathered hairstyle of one of the figures contribute to strengthening the symbolic and sophisticated atmosphere of the work.
