"Joseph Monin (1903-2000) - Young Man Resting - Terracotta"
Terracotta sculpture by Joseph Monin, depicting a young, shirtless man seated in a calm, meditative pose alongside a reclining dog. The fluid treatment of the body and the serenity of the pose convey a peaceful, almost contemplative vision typical of Monin's work. Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse and then in Paris with Bourdelle, Joseph Monin is an important figure in 20th-century southern sculpture. A professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse, he was able to convey a timeless aesthetic, imbued with humanism and restraint, in his works.
