A characteristic model of the Provençal chair, with chamfered uprights and turned ball tops. The backrest features three sculpted bars, the first of a model that would become very popular in Provençal chairs. The front, lower, and side rails are scalloped. The front legs are highlighted with a small sculpted ball. The seat and backrest are upholstered in a modern tapestry decorated with plants. Note: the two backrests have identical designs, but the different sizes indicate a Monsieur/Madame pair. Provençal work, 18th century.
