After Robert-Joseph Auguste - Vestal Virgins Pair of Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze Candlesticks, circa 1850

An elegant pair of gilt bronze candlesticks, crafted in the 19th century, draws inspiration from the Louis XVI style, renowned for its grace and symmetry.

The Louis XVI style, popular from 1774 to 1792, is distinguished by its return to classical forms and symmetry. These candlesticks are a fine example, blending tradition with timeless elegance.

Three female figures, representing vestal virgins, form the body of the candlestick. Their back-to-back arrangement creates visual harmony.

The circular base, supported by three feet, is adorned with finely chiseled classical entrelacs vegetal motifs.

A circular binet, decorated with natural motifs, tops the figures' heads and holds the candle.

Inspired by the works of Robert-Joseph Auguste, an 18th-century master goldsmith, these candlesticks recall creations made for King Gustav III of Sweden, now exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of New York.

Robert-Joseph Auguste, a renowned master goldsmith, made his mark with creations in silver and gold.

Few examples of this model exist, making it a unique collector's item.

Ideal for adorning refined interiors, these candlesticks will bring a touch of light and sophistication to your living rooms and boudoirs.
