"Still Life By Wilhelm Drinhausen (1821-1875)"
A bunch of grapes between a peach and an apple, the whole placed on an entablature which bears the signature of the artist "W.Drinhausen". This is the German painter Wilhelm Drinhausen born in 1821 and died in 1875. He was part of the Düsseldorf School. His favorite subject was flowers and still lifes, a subject he mastered perfectly. The composition, the very realistic representation of the leaves and fruits, their delicate colors, their lighting, everything is perfectly rendered. The freshly picked grapes, we would taste them, and the apple, we would bite into it. The brown stain, sign of the presence of a worm in the fruit, will perhaps make us hesitate. Here we are in front of an unexpected and somewhat anachronistic symbol of vanitas for a 19th century painting. The oil on canvas is in perfect condition, its original frame also
