This oil on canvas dates from the beginning of the 19th century, Empire period, of a beautiful execution it faithfully reproduces the work of Simone Cantarini (1616-1648) "the Virgin and Child and two angels". The painting presents very beautiful colors and a very good technique. This painting formerly restored has been relined for its conservation, a handwritten label on the back indicates "Virgin with veil entrusted to the Louvre museum around 1812 by Louise Bertault grandmother of Louise Durouchoux née le Riche. »The painting is presented in an Empire period frame made of wood and gilded stucco. The entire frame has retained its original gilding in good condition. There are some missing parts on the lower part of the frame. The painting is in very good condition. Simone Cantarini was born in Pesaro, Italy, on April 12, 1612, and died on October 15, 1648, in Verona, Italy. His style belongs to the Bolognese school. He was one of the most appreciated Italian artists. Cantarini was influenced by the works of O. Gentileschi and Giovanni Francesco Fossombrone. Cantarini was able to train alongside Claudio Ridolfi and Barocci, but his interest was focused on Guido Reni, whose student he was. Framed dimensions: 59 cm x 50 cm. Visible dimensions: 45 x 37 cm
