This is a very richly carved chest of drawers from Nîmes with an openwork crossbar.
Set on powerful feet with a shell scroll and acanthus leaves, the curved uprights soar in a sinuous movement.
The lower crossbar is openwork and carved with acanthus and shell clasps.
The sides are strongly curved and have rounded moldings.
The drawers are very richly carved with acanthus and shell.
The bronze handles and keyhole are original, as is the top lock (no key).
Solid walnut top.
Furniture in very good condition, as discovered.
Everything is original, top right corner of the top drawer reglued, some stains on the top.
We are in the presence of a very beautiful chest of drawers from the early 18th century around 1720-1730.
A similar model is reproduced on pages 24-25 of the book "Mobilier Provençal" published by Massin
