"Works Of Mr. Palissot, New Augmented Edition Enriched With Figures In 6 Vol. I, 8+ 1 Suppl"
Remarkable edition of the Works of Mr. Palissot, new edition considerably enlarged, enriched with figures. Complete in 6 Volumes in 8 of 1777 in Liège, at Clément Plomteux, Printer of Messeigneurs les Etats, M. DCC. LXXVII, with an addition which is rare from 1779 in Liège; and is in Paris, at Jean-François Bastien, Bookseller rue du Petit-Lion, Faub. S. Germain, M. DCC. LXXIX. All in a very fresh binding of the time in speckled calfskin, spine with ribs decorated with gilt irons in the boxes, titles and volume numbers in morocco and black and for the supplement: blond calfskin, triple fillets on the covers, title in red and olive morocco, marbled guards, red edges. The quality of the full-page illustrations on beautiful paper, both for the plays and for the poem La Dunciade, is enchanting, where we see the customs of the nobility in this luminous 18th century, full of grace and spirit. This copy in perfect condition is a masterpiece of quality for an author sadly forgotten who nevertheless had so much spirit.
