Elegant solid silver sugar/cannelloni bowl from the Classicist period from Luzern/Switzerland, circa 1790.

Luzern, unknown makers mark.

The fine and elegant shaker rests on a round base with a wide base. Short stem, on top of which is the cup-shaped body. Domed lid with bayonet closure. Egg-shaped knob with leaf overlays. Finely openwork hood.

Stamped on the edge of the foot with the city and master's mark.

Height: 19.5 cm Weight: 225 g

Peter Kleiner writes in "Cinnamon and Cinnamon Shakers" that cinnamon shakers are remarkably common in western Switzerland and Bern. The reason for this may be that at that time, cinnamon deliveries mainly came from the Middle East via France and Geneva to the western part of the country.
