"Bastet House In Lyon (1864-1935), Ladies' Desk With System, Inlaid Secretary, Cylinder"
Louis XVI style ladies' desk with system from the famous Maison Antoine Bastet, active in Lyon, 3 and 5 rue du Président Carnot, from 1864 to 1935. The central cylinder of our piece of furniture reveals three small drawers as well as a support forming a pen holder. The flap forming a writing desk is covered with forest green leather with a gold border marked with a small iron. The step of the secretary is composed of three drawers. Finally, a large drawer is also present at the waist of the piece of furniture. It has a lock which alone allows to open or condemn all the openings and system of the secretary. It is by pulling this large drawer that the entire system is deployed. The structure of the piece of furniture is in mahogany and marquetry of precious wood diamonds. The legs of our piece of furniture are fluted and tapered. The front grooves are decorated with small chiseled bronze falls. The top of the grandin is covered with a dark pink marble attached to the furniture, it has a discreet filling of material inside one of its veins (see photo 10) Refined furniture in superb condition. We note a small mahogany graft on the bottom of one of the two sides of the furniture (see photo 7) Useful dimensions of the marble: 88cm x 21.5cm
