Important original terracotta signed Fr.Deckers on the terrace and dating from the beginning of the 19th century.
Inspired by the sculptures of the 18th century in the spirit of Clodion, this terracotta is not an edition terracotta but an original full terracotta made by the artist's hands.
Be careful, it is full and the weight is therefore substantial.
The artist was inspired by the bacchanal scenes of antiquity and the terracottas of Clodion. A beautiful seated bacchante, her chest bare, her forehead adorned with a crown of vine branches, and throws a smiling face towards a toddler with arms outstretched on her legs.
She is busy placing a burn h of grapes in a cup while watching the putto.
Probably a beautiful allegory of the vines and the grape harvest.
Very beautiful nuanced old patina. A tiny chip on the edge of the cup.
Very good general condition.
A terracotta of superb quality when you pay attention to the details, you will discover a great finesse of execution in this refined sculpture.
