"Multi-layered Glass Vase Signed Gallé Depicting The Bay Of Rio De Janeiro"
Émile Gallé (1846-1904) was a French master glassmaker, cabinetmaker, and ceramist. From 1867, he was a partner in his father's earthenware and glass decoration business, which he took over in 1877. In 1889, he received three awards at the Paris World's Fair. In 1894, he built the Gallé Establishments in the Art Nouveau style and developed his research into glasswork. In 1901, he founded the Nancy School, and upon his death, his widow took over the business. The Gallé Establishments company ceased production in 1931.
