"Venetian Mirror With Engraved And Beveled Glass"
Elegant Venetian mirror from the second half of the 19th century, carved wood with gold leaf gilding, richly decorated with floral rocaille-style motifs. The most distinctive feature is the engraved central mirror, depicting a standing male neoclassical figure, nude, draped at the side, holding a globe in his left hand. It may represent an allegorical figure—possibly Atlas or a symbol of dominion or knowledge, in line with classical iconography.
The upper section features a secondary mirror, also engraved and beveled with floral decoration, echoing the scrolling and carved elements of the frame. The whole piece offers a fascinating balance between ornamentation and symbolic imagery.
Dimensions: height 83 cm, width 48 cm.
