Albert Saverys (1886-1964) was born in Deinze. The son of a modest craftsman painter, he entered the Ghent Academy and studied with George Minne and Jean Delvin. He quickly developed a personal style, characterized by a vibrant touch and a great sensitivity to light.
Deeply attached to his native land, he tirelessly depicts the Lys and the Flemish countryside.
He enjoyed great success during his lifetime, exhibiting in numerous galleries and salons in Belgium and abroad.
Today, his works can be found in museums such as the Hermitage in St. Petersburg, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Stedelijke Museum in Amsterdam.
