"Travel Reliquary With 42 Relics - Late 18th Century "
Covered with fine embroidery, our mandorla-shaped reliquary contains two miniature portraits. These are enhanced engravings. Our figures, Saint Mary Magdalene and possibly Saint Francis of Assisi, are in Glory and the numerous relics constitute precisely the 21 rays of each of these two Glories.
The phylacteries specify that these are only Martyr Saints.
The mandorla, symbol of the meeting of the terrestrial and celestial spheres, finds here another complementarity with the two poles of humanity which complement each other as do these two Saints.
