Saloman” Very beautiful fruitwood frameVery good conditionGeskel Saloman is a Danish-Swedish portrait and genre scene painter. He went to Sweden in 1850 where he entered the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm where he was a pupil of Johan Ludwig Lund. He exhibited mainly genre scenes and portraits there, notably that of the painter Conrad Christian Bøhndel and the portrait of Thomas Overskou for which he won the Neuhausenske Præmier in 1848. Our portrait, due to its size, is remarkably fine with very beautiful details such as the necklace, the fingers and the book. The great beauty of this woman also adds to the charm of this unidentified portrait, which recalls the portraits of Van Dyck from which he may have drawn inspiration.
