Cup and saucer
Painted hard porcelain with gilding
Dimensions: H. cup; D. 13 (cm.)
Sèvres, 1778
Superb second (or third) size litron cup and saucer in hard porcelain. Mark with two interlaced “L” and date letters “AA” for 1778. Painter's mark on the crescent, probably for Louis Denis Armand l'ainé, active from 1745 to 1788 and a painter of birds and landscapes at the manufactory. This piece features an interesting decoration comprising two views of ancient ruins in medallions, all in very fine gilding. The ends of both pieces are painted with daffodil-colored ribbons and picked up with black interlacing.
Condition report: very slight wear
